When issuing a deregistration message, some last events may still be sent
by the daemon before deregistration completes. Ignore such event messages
silently during deregistration, avoiding exceptions like:
vici.exception.SessionException:
Unexpected response type 7, expected '5' (EVENT_CONFIRM)
The architecture of the Python client is completely blocking, which is fine
for many simple scripts. For more complex applications that do other I/O
and listen for vici events, the most feasible way to integrate the client is
to use a dedicated thread.
Unfortunately, Python has no simple support for thread cancellation. And
having that thread in a blocking recv() does not allow to terminate the
thread gracefully with an Event or the like.
As a way out, add a timeout to the listen() call, so the thread can
periodically do other things, like checking for termination Event and
react on it. Returning from listen() on timeout can be suboptimal, though,
as it involves registration/deregistration for events, including the risk
for missing events while not registered. So return a (None, None) tuple
instead on timeout, allowing the caller to periodically do other things
while staying registered for the events and continue in listen().
The timeout applies to the socket recv() for the start of the header, only,
so a message is either read in full or times out, avoiding the risk
of breaking message framing on the stream with partial reads.
This is the recommended location and import config as it allows running the
tests against installed versions of the package. And while the test file
itself is automatically included in the source distribution this way, the
__init__.py file is not, so we still have to update MANIFEST.in.
Line 66 yields "TypeError: can't concat bytes to str" using Python 3.4.
"requestdata" was introduced in 22f08609f1 but is not actually used.
Since the original "request" is not used anywhere else this can be changed
to be similar to the other UTF-8 encoding changes in that commit.

When using vici over RPyC and its (awesome) splitbrain, encoding and decoding
strings fails in vici, most likely because of the Monkey-Patch magic splitbrain
uses.
When specifying the implicit UTF-8 as encoding scheme explicitly, Python uses
the correct method to encode/decode the string, making vici useable in
splitbrain contexts.
The Python VICI library does not check if the socket is closed.
If the daemon closes the connection, _recvall() spins forever.

When fresh CRLs are released with a high update frequency (e.g.
every 24 hours) or OCSP is used then the certificate cache gets
quickly filled with stale CRLs or OCSP responses. The new VICI
flush-certs command allows to flush e.g. cached CRLs or OCSP
responses only. Without the type argument all kind of certificates
(e.g. also received end entity and intermediate CA certificates)
are purged.
The versioning scheme used by Python (PEP 440) supports the rcN suffix
but development releases have to be named devN, not drN, which are
not supported and considered legacy versions.
Installing them might not work well when building distro packages (e.g.
with DESTDIR installs). It might be easier to install them later with a
script in the distro package.
When building from source on the local system it could still be useful to
install the packages directly, which can be enabled with separate configure
options.
The main problem with DESTDIR installations of the Python Egg is that
easy_install creates or modifies a file called easy-install.pth in the
installation directory. So it's not actually possible to simply copy
the results in DESTDIR over to the actual system as that file would have
to be merged with any existing one.

We also don't require setup.py to exist during cleanup, as e.g. with
make distcheck the source directory is not writable when the build directory
is cleaned, so setup.py can't be created (to just get removed again anyway
if VICI and the Python Eggs haven't been enabled previously).
In addition that it may reduce memory usage and improve performance for large
responses, it returns immediate results. This is important for longer lasting
commands, such as initiate/terminate, where immediate log feedback is preferable
when interactively calling such commands.
An uninstall target is currently not supported, as there is no trivial way with
either plain setuptools or with easy_install. pip would probably be the best
choice, but we currently don't depend on it.
